Canes Rising: Corner Turned

CANE99 · 1 year agoPeople can blame Nix all day, but will Marve stop trying to be Mike Vick and jut read the defense. Why is it when Jacroy plays the offense scores and is aggressive especially in the red zone. Defense baby!!! Hope NC loses this weekend

Da U · 1 year agoI think Marve's time is running out. He cannot make a read downfield and his runs were largely a bi-product of panicky reactions to the Hokie rush. The throw on 3rd down to Aldarius Johnson on the attempted fade was one of the worst throws I've seen from a Miami QB. Worse than KW, if at all possible.

LV Canes · 1 year agoGreat defensive game. Offense is more diffcult to develop than defense and you have to remember the qb's are a redshirt freshman and a true freshman. However, I think the offensive schemes are inconsistent. I think the approach that Shannon is taking, especially in a agame against someone like VT, is to keep it conservative and let your defense lead the way. Nix is told to call plays to fit the overall game plan. Hey, it worked! They will have a similar game against GT next week. This was a good win especially with all the freshman and sophomores playing.

GO CANES · 1 year agoAll in all, a win.Offense needs to get better. I see the real problem, if you will, on offense, is the lack of real quality lineman. These guys are average, and really try hard. Fox is a little better. When we failed to recruit QBs RBs WRs and TEs, we forgot that it really starts up front....We had some great lines, now we are average. Same on D. Our guys were average as a unit. Campbell had 1 good year, Pata was killed....but the D is stepping up quicker, MR, AB on the line made some big plays. Tech could not pass at the end because of the pressure.Other times they could, and no pressure exposes avg dbs, ours are average or less. I look at this from a coaching standpoint. Still was an exciting win...I was nervous...ugly but a win and someone said we would have lost last year. Good win still a lot to work on.

Canester · 1 year agoMarve did not play well. He had no patience in the pocket and would take off running before things could develop. Many of those runs went for very little gain. The offense almost cost us this game. We had 3 possessions that ended in FGS when they should have been touchdowns. The defense gave hte offense good field position in the 2nd half and all they did was kick FGS.

ErT · 1 year agoWho was it that scored 16 points, which was more than the 14 that Va Tech scored? It certainly wasn't the defense. It wasn't kick returns. It was the offesne that was able to get into position to actually kick the field goals. I don't think there is anything that I or anyone else can say that will change your mind about Nix but you cannot discount the fact that the offense did enough to get into position to actually score points. Yes I would have like to have seen TDs instead of field goals but the offense was 100% responsible for all the points that were scored last night.

Canes Rock Your World · 1 year agoSam Shields is no getting enough credit for his role in last night's win. His special teams play since the bonehead drops and penalties versus FSU have helped change our season around!
