K. Jones starting was a joke. Do you know he has only 12 career catches? Can you believe that?

Cooper was recruited and signed by Coker. He then did not qualify, went to Milford Prep and had to be re-recruited by Shannon.

Epps was a Coker recruit as was Shields whom you mention. So was the oft injured Baby J.

They have the best talent in the ACC hands down. But they have a coaching problem. I'm not sure that Jimbo Fisher is the right man yet for that job and Mickey Andrews defenses have been eaten alive the past few years by teams running misdirection (Wake), the spread option (Florida) and now the triple option (Ga Tech). To me FSU is much better equipped to face a pro style offense or a passing oriented offense than a gimmicky attack.

Agreed. I like how Nix mixed in the run with the pass and decided after Shields 3rd down catch that playing the clock was silly when you had some offensive momentum and Virginia was tiring.

Both TDs were great plays by the WRs.

Coop tore it up on that last drive

And against both Duke and UVA Harris got to face a worn out defense while Marve faced them at full strength yet we are told Harris was so much better?

Look at how Shannon's recruits step up after Coker recruits blew so many games early in the year.

DVD by the way should transfer. I don't know why Shannon bothered to "re-recruit" that turd after Coker's firing made him flirt with the GAY-tors.

Marve is turnover prone, but neither one of these guys has really separated themselves just yet. Yea, Jacory might have the edge right now, but he has taken some bad chances just like Marve. And while Marve doesn't put enough touch on a lot of passes, Jacory still puts too much on some passes. Jacory has just been lucky that he hasn't been picked off more. This battle will continue throughout the rest of the year and possibly through the offseason. Marve has made a lot of plays himself. But Jacory has been the one to finish games, so right now he gets all the credit.

Nix called a good game all game long. The power runs were smart on the road in cold weather. That set wore UVa down for the last drive. Nix is getting better as the season wears on.

Has Khalil Jones, our starting WR at the beginning of the season even caught five passes this year? Where is Leonard Hankerson? Has anyone seen Deron Thomas lately? What about DejeLeon Farr..............oh year kicked off the team.

Coker's offensive recruits are making little or no impact except for Shields, and that's mostly been on Special Teams. Name me one Coker recruit other than Shields that is doing anything on offense?

That's part of Nix's problems. People want all these complicated plays but when your upperclassmen are worthless you have to dumb down the playbook for the kids. Still Nix called one hell of a drive even with all the b/s penalities against us.

It was a tough, hard fought road win. I can't really hammer a guy that gets 448 yards of offense when you had guys with so many penalties that kept putting them in third and long situations. That wasn't Nix's play calling. That was guys not being focused and playing with so much anxiety, they jump offsides. Nix called the plays he needed to call to win the game with the weapons we have right now. Next year he will be able to do more things but anytime you go on the road vs the conference leader and put up 448 yards, that's fine. Virginia was playing the best ball in the conference arguably. They weren't gonna go up and down the field on them at will.

Play of the game was Sam Shields 3rd down catch to keep the drive going. The 'Canes were 1 of 10 on 3rd down before that big throw from JH. As you state SS stepped up big. Nice piece last week on him as well.

I read this blog every now and then, and I never post, but I have to today. You Canes fans suck. You are so fickle. In one blog, a fan will call the coaches stupid, and then the same fan MINUTES later will say what a great job the coaches did. A fan will curse the fact that Jacory is in the game, and then minutes later the SAME FAN will say "I told everybody we should play Harris more." What the hell is wrong with you all? How about sticking with one idea/opinion and KEEPING IT!?!? You can go ahead and rip me a new one, because I won't be reading any of the comments anyway. Just something for you all to think about.

Kartik I salute you. You had a great post defending the staff weeks ago because these players could have very easily have quit on them after the loss against FSU, but they didn't. They have played hard for Shannon. A lot of people were questioning whether Randy was the right man for the job, well I don't think we will be hearing that anytime soon. Overall, I really like the improvement of the staff . They still make mistakes, like using up all of our timeouts, but they are growing up with the team. That is what I take away from the last four weeks. Good sign.

Hurricane fans may look back and see this was the last one was the breakout drive that started it all.

What this game will do for these kids cant be measured right now.

It is these kinds of games we will look back on and remember where it all really started.

I salute these young men for there courage to get it done in the face of overwhelming adversity.

Who's the worst tackler in the secondary? Lotta choices: Ponder, Brandon, DVD, Hill? None of them can hit worth a lick. Too bad we couldn't afford to redshirt Brandon. He's just not physically ready. Hope he improves more than DVD has between year one and two.

i think shannon saw the team was staying on neutral and needed something to jumpstart the offense. staying with harris paid off today. harris kep fighting and gaining confidence as he continued to get reps. our offensive penalties were bad and give nix credit for adjusting the playcalls around that.

I find it hard to believe you guys and the guys at Grassy are that ignorant of football. We have now won 4 in a row with Nix and Shannon improving every game. You guys want to bring in another OC and have us start from scratch once again. Just silly. The play calling on that last drive was excellent. Very impressed with the way he got Coop involved. Many OC's in that position just ignore the RB. I was not even that disappointed with the run at the end of the game to waste our final timeout. Virginia did a good job of making a stop, but thats the type of run that usually catches a defense off guard and picks up 8 to 10 yards and sets up an easy FG.
