Canes Rising: Syracuse 1998 Redux

We're comparing Josh Nesbitt to Donovan McNabb??????????????

That puts tonight in perspective :(

Lol, I dont think he's necessarily comparing the two, just comparing the situation. Either way, it totally sucks, I was all set to purchase my tickets to the ACC Championship game, I'm glad I held off on that. Well at least we'll make a bowl, which was my expectation coming in to the season.

    Agree 100% with this post.

Let's regroup and win next Saturday.

Shannon is so stubborn; his one track thinking might cost him his job down the line. If JH is playing the whole game we are right there. Marve should never start again.

People think coaching is all that ever matters. I can guarantee you that these players were drilled all week. Randy Shannon isn't new to the option and neither is Young. But you take a guy like Spence who is very new or like Davis who isn't that talented or like Ryan Hill who's only been a safety for a few months, show them something this new and different, and their head spins. It's a lot to process. It's not because Johnson outcoached us--he probably did the same shyte he did all year and I'm sure we were prepared as best as possible. But preparation and actually facing this thing are different. We aren't that great yet and this team was just a flat-out bad matchup for us.

If jacory is just patient, he's got that spot sewn for 09'. Shannon & co. just don't want the public(you and I)to say "I told you so." Eventually nix will realize he's got kids to feed, and had better wake the F up.

debacle is the only way to describe what transpired last night.

nix called horrible plays and stopped us from controlling the clock.

young had no gameplan to counter the option and made no adjustments.

shannon stood stoic and silent on the sideline without explanation.

when we f@#%$d up under butch he'd let the guys know.

now it is east street for these guys. no consequences for the players or coaches when they humiliate all of us like last night.

What we saw last night was a team running around with no clue of how to stop the triple option, period. Romeo Davis and Glenn Cook not once made a tackle behind the line of scrimmage. Shannon on the sideline kept telling both of them to run at the snap of the ball towards the center position of GT. The only linebacker that made any plays including behind the line of scrimmage was Spence. How 2 seniors are so clueless as to there assignment is beyond belief. The tackles held their own but the 2 bozos (Cook+Davis) should hand their helmets in this morning. But they are holdovers from Coker and a new day is coming.

Nix to me did not loose the game last night. Even when he made the correct call Youngblood caused the team a touchdown the first half. Why people keep pilling on Nix is just plain dumb. Jacory is the perfect QB for this offense and we need next year to make a decision by the end of Spring. Whoever is left out has 2 options stay or transfer.

Listen, at this point last year the future was bleak, there was no leadership, and no building block to speak off. We are going to a bowl, Champs I believe, and will probably be favored to be win the ACC next year. All of you have a great Thanksgiving.

I think alot of the problem is we have no tailback that can dominate, no wide recivers that dominate, a below average offensive line and a freshmen QB. Nobody respects the run and the WR scare no one. That being said I think we are recruiting well and filling our needs. We need tailbacks, O-Line and a year or two for the young ones to mature. B. Brown hopefully can solve this for us next year.

HEY KARTIK.......................I GUESS YOUR BOY COOP ISN'T GETTING TO A 1,000 YARDS. HE IS NOT EVEN GOIN TO SNIFF IT!

IT'S TIME WE WENT BACK TO BABY J. COOP ALWAYS PICKS THE WRONG ALLEY AND HAS NO POWER. HE IS ALSO TOTALLY INDECISIVE. WHERE IS THAT BREAK AWAY SPEED YOU'VE TALKED ABOUT IN THE PAST? HECK, MCNEAL AND CHAMBERS BOTH HAVE AS MUCH GOING FOR THEM AS HIM.

I really don't think Nix has to go. While there are certain play calls that I don't always agree with, i applaud him for doing so much with all this young talent and keeping two QBs playing.

Just because it is easy to run an offense on your xbox doesn't mean it is that easy in real life. I think that this offense has shown signs of life and Nix wouldn't be under any ehat if we didn't drop so many passes.

I think Jacory should be the starter. He seems to have a calmness about him much like Dorsey. I really think another year with Nix will pay dividends. But he must choose Jacory if he wants to stick around long term.

Ultimately the problem with this offense is the inability of Robert Marve to avoid bonehead mistakes and the costly almost constant drops by WRs. Nix isn't great but he isn't horrible either. We just don't have the personnel right now to do the job we need done.

great post. agree with everything you said

Other than the Coop prediction you've been pretty on the money about this team.

I remember you saying on the podcast that GT was going to be the best team in the ACC in the future because of the option. Very prophetic my friend.
